Description
This event took place over three days at the beginning of February in 1916 at the armory in Mankato, Minnesota. The German Red Cross Bazaar was a relief effort for the war sufferers in Europe. A red cross was suspended over the armory’s hall and the Stars and Stripes were used across the sides of the building and its ceiling. Booths at the bazaar include fortune tellers, fishpond and grab-bag games and a “wheel of fortune.” The parcel post department offered a game of luck in which participants guessed the weight of packages.
Mankato is a city in Blue Earth, Nicollet, and Le Sueur counties in the state of Minnesota. The population was 44,488 according to the 2020 census, making it the 21st–largest city in Minnesota outside the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area.
A bit of history, fantastic for dropping friends or family a note the old-fashioned way, and makes a great gift! This is a reproduction of the original 1912 postcard.
