Description
Description:??Meandering: Notes of a Mississippi Riverlorian??follows the course of the great Mississippi, weaving stories of the people and places along the way with the history and ecology of the river and its surroundings. From the river???s source in northern Minnesota to its dissipation in the bayous of Louisiana, the Mississippi impacts the lives of millions of people, providing livelihoods, recreation, and occasionally danger for those along its shores.
Mike Link and Kate Crowley have traveled up and down the Mississippi River by car, bike, and paddlewheel, collecting stories and observations along the way. From the stories of the first people to settle along the river to the impacts of climate change, the history of North America???s longest river is long and sometimes contentious. Link and Crowley masterfully blend their own experiences with these stories, resulting in a narrative that is at once relatable and informative.??
